INDIANAPOLIS -- A child was hospitalized Sunday after he was hit by a vehicle while on a mini-motorcycle.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the intersection of Belle Union and Blooming Grove Drives.

Police found medics with Decatur working on a 12-year-old boy who was hit while on a "pocket bike."

The boy was taken to Riley Hospital in critical condition, police say.

Investigators say it appears the sun affected the driver's vision; One officer noted that as he arrived on the scene, the sun was so bright that he couldn't see the fire truck in the road.

Police say the boy was stopped to talk with friends on the side of the road when he was struck. The driver will not be charged.
