1 killed in shooting on Indy's northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS — One person was shot and killed Friday afternoon on Indianapolis’ northeast side.

The shooting happened in the 6200 block of Newberry Road at the Timber Point Apartments, at about 2:30 p.m., a spokesperson with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said.

That is just west of Fort Harrison State Park.

Police say they responded to a call of a person shot at the Timber Point Apartments. They found a man with a gunshot wound inside an apartment. He was taken to the hospital where he died.
