LAFAYETTE — A 16-year-old boy was injured in a shooting Sunday morning on the south side of Lafayette.

Lafayette Police Department officers and emergency personnel were called around 11 a.m. to the area of South 24th and Central streets on the report a person shot, LPD Sgt. Mike Brown said in a press release. When they arrived, they located the boy who was shot in the leg.

The teen was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Brown said.

Detectives believe the teen was shot after a dispute between two groups of people, involving both adults and juveniles, Brown said.

No other injuries were reported.

At this time, police say those involved with the dispute are not cooperating with detectives and the investigation is on-going.
