INDIANAPOLIS -- A BlueIndy car was stolen from Indianapolis' west side, and police have a suspect in custody.
Officers were called to a Speedway gas station on the city's west side around 8 a.m., on a report of a stolen car. The vehicle was being tracked by BlueIndy. When police approached the vehicle at the gas station, the driver took off, an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson said.
Police eventually caught the driver. The incident is still under investigation. The suspect has not been identified, but police say she was wanted on a warrant.
BlueIndy is an electric car-sharing service launched in the city in 2015. Users pay a subscription fee, then access a BlueIndy car from one of the charging ports across the city. When you return it, you pay a rental fee based on time used.
According to BlueIndy's website, the top speed of one of the cars is 65 mph.
