MUNCIE — A bystander was struck by gunfire early Sunday morning in The Village near Ball State University in Muncie, according to police.
The bystander was near a gas station parking lot around 2:15 a.m. near West University Avenue and North Dill Street when they were injured, Muncie Police Department Deputy Chief Melissa Pease said. Their condition is not clear at this time.
Two people, a 20-year-old and 18-year-old, were arrested in connection with the incident, Pease said.
Formal charges have not been filed, according to online court records.
Detectives are still investigating the incident.
Ball State University Police Department officers assisted Muncie police with the investigation, according to an emergency alert from the university.
MPD with the assistance of UPD are in the area of University and Dill on reports of shots fired. Stay clear of the area until further notice.
