Carmel police: Man arrested after armed robbery at Walgreens, high-speed chase

CARMEL — An Indianapolis man was arrested Saturday evening after he robbed a Walgreens and led Carmel police on a high-speed chase, according to police.

Carmel Police Department officers were called to investigate the armed robbery around 7:40 p.m. on South Range Line Road, according to a press release from police. The suspect then led officers on a chase, crashed on the Plum Creek Golf Course property, and ran away.

A one-year-old and six-year-old were unrestrained in the car and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to the release.

Officers from the Carmel and Zionsville police departments used K9s and drones to find the suspect who ran away. He was later located in the 5400 block of Kenwood Place, near the golf course, and ran away again. He was later located again and taken to the Hamilton County Jail.

The man was preliminarily charged with robbery of a pharmacy, resisting law enforcement, driving while suspended, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of marijuana, according to the release. Formal charges have not been filed yet, according to online court records.
