IMPD: Business owner dies after Friday evening shooting in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A 78-year-old business owner died Saturday after a shooting Friday evening on the east side of Indianapolis, according to police.

Paul Edmonds was shot around 7 p.m. in the parking lot of Hardee's, in the 5900 block of South Brookville Road, near South Arlington Avenue, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Genae Cook said in a media release. He isn't the owner of the Hardee's.

On Sunday, a 24-year-old woman was arrested in connection with Edmond's death, according to a press release from IMPD. Formal charges have not been filed, according to online court records.

Additional details have not been released.

Homicide detectives are investigating the incident, Cook said.
