INDIANAPOLIS – Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are searching for a hit-and-run driver who crashed into a bicyclist last week and drove away without stopping to provide help or information.
The incident happened Oct. 8, at about 9:10 a.m., at the intersection of Sherman Drive and Pleasant Run Parkway South Drive.
The bicyclist was struck by an SUV, which fled north on Sherman Drive. The victim is in the hospital in grave condition, IMPD said.
Police say the SUV had been traveling east on English Avenue and turned north on Sherman Drive before the crash. The vehicle is a gold or tan late 1990s or early 2000s Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon. The wheels are aftermarket, the side mirrors are oversized and the hood has a raised area in the middle.
