IMPD: Person dies after shooting on Indianapolis' north side

INDIANAPOLIS — Police said a person has died after a shooting Thursday evening on the north side of Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers and emergency personnel were called around 7:30 p.m. to the 2900 block of Central Avenue on the report of a person shot, IMPD Officer William Young said in an email.

When they arrived, they found a person who appeared to be shot, Young said. They were taken to a local hospital in critical condition and later died.

Their identity has not been released.

The incident is being investigated as a homicide.
