IMPD: Suspect detained in connection homicide on city's southeast side

INDIANAPOLIS — A suspect was detained after a woman was found dead Saturday morning on the southeast side of Indianapolis, according to police.

Around 5 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 6800 block of Mimosa Lane, near East Southport Road and Acton Road, to check the welfare of a person.

Officers found a woman who was dead with apparent trauma when they arrived, IMPD Sgt. Shane Foley said in a press release. Her identity hasn't been released.

Detectives identified a suspect and detained them, Foley said. Their identity hasn't been released.
