KOKOMO — Kokomo police are searching for a teen who escaped from the youth detention center Wednesday evening.
Leevontay Eugene Allen Brown, 17, of Kokomo, is described as being a light-skinned black male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, according to a Facebook post from the Kokomo Police Department. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and white tennis shoes. He has small lacerations on his right hand.
Brown ran from the Kinsey Youth Center around 8 p.m., according to the post.
During a traffic stop in the 1400 block of North Davis Road on Wednesday, he was detained on the suspicion of resisting law enforcement, batter on a police officer, dealing marijuana, possession of a firearm without a permit and possession of stolen property, according to the post.
Anyone who spots Brown or has information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
