INDIANAPOLIS — A man convicted of killing a woman trying to break up an argument was sentenced Wednesday to more than 60 years in prison.

John Woodcock, 37, of Indianapolis, was sentenced to 62 years in prison after he was convicted in January of murder and battery by means of a deadly weapon, according to court documents.

Woodcock was convicted of shooting Heather Mandujano, 40, in the head after she tried to stop a fight between Woodcock and another man, according to information from the Marion County Prosecutors Office.

During the argument, prosecutors say Adam Walls was struck in the head with the same gun he used to shoot Mandujano.
