Man crashes Camaro while fleeing from Westfield police, gets away on foot

WESTFIELD, Ind. -- A man fleeing from police near Westfield, Indiana crashed his vehicle and got away on foot early Sunday morning.

The incident happened just before 1 a.m. Sunday, on US 31. An officer with the Westfield Police Department tried to conduct a traffic stop on a speeding black Chevrolet Camaro. Instead of pulling over, the driver abruptly exited US 31 onto the 136th Street ramp in Carmel. 

The officer then lost sight of the vehicle, police say. It was later found crashed into a ditch, but the driver wasn't with the Camaro. 

The Westfield Police Department is searching for the owner of the vehicle, Daniel Issac Nevins, 40.  Nevins is 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. 

Police used K-9s to try and find him, but were unsuccessful.
