INDIANAPOLIS -- One man was arrested after leading police into a construction site near downtown Indianapolis, officers say.

Police say the suspect was seen committing traffic infractions near Capitol and North streets around 1 a.m. When the officers attempted to stop the man, he took off.

The man in his 40s was driving a small green sedan. Officers chased him onto westbound I-70, then off I-70 at Harding Street. The man drove into a construction hole and crashed into a fence, according to a spokesperson with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

The man tried to run away, but police sent a K-9 after him. The dog bit him in the hand and took him down. The man was likely impaired on drugs, the IMPD spokesperson said.
