MUNCIE — A man is dead and a woman was injured in a shooting Thursday morning just west of Downtown Muncie.
Muncie Police Department officers were called around 4:45 a.m. to the 400 block of West Howard Street on the report of a shooting, MPD Deputy Chief Melissa Pease said.
When they arrived, they found a 19-year-old woman on the front porch who had been shot and a 29-year-old man upstairs who was also shot, Pease said. The man later died and the woman is in stable condition.
Officers later located a possible suspect, Tavis Corbin, 42, nearby, Pease said. He was later arrested and preliminary charged on the suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Formal charges have not been filed, according to online court documents.
Detectives are still working to determine the motive in the incident.
