Man sentenced in 2016 murder, robbery of 30-year-old Indianapolis woman

INDIANAPOLIS — A man was sentenced on Wednesday to 81 years in prison in connection with the 2016 murder and robbery of an Indianapolis woman.

Lawon Browning, 26, was found guilty of murder and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury in July.

He was charged in connection with the November 2016 shooting death of Jessica Whitehouse. Authorities said he stole Whitehouse's car, credit cards and other items after shooting her.

Police arrested Browning after DNA evidence and cell phone records connected him to the incident.
