MARION — A man was shot Friday night in Marion after refusing to give another man a cigarette.

Marion Police Department officers were called around 11:30 p.m. to the 1400 block of South Adams Street, on the city's south side, to investigate a report of shots being fired in the area, MPD Capt. Stephen Dorsey said in a press release. While officers were in the area investigating, officers located a man who was shot.

Dae'Andre Brown, 22, of Marion, was allegedly shot by Dalance Arlonzo Scaife, 21, of Marion, after refusing to give Scaife a cigarette, Dorsey said. Brown was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Officers located three spent shell casings and a Chrysler car with bullet holes in the front windshield in the area, Dorsey said.

Scaife turned himself to authorities after they issued an arrest warrant, Dorsey said.
