MERRILLVILLE — A woman was arrested early Saturday morning in Merrillville after she allegedly urinated while at a stoplight.

Around 1:15 a.m., an Indiana State Police trooper saw a woman urinating outside by the driver's door of a car at the intersection of 61st Avenue and Broadway, Master Trooper Glen Fifield said in a press release. When the trooper turned around and turned on his emergency lights, the woman got back into the car and started driving again before stopping.

The trooper observed signs indicating the 33-year-old woman, of Merrillville, may be intoxicated, Fifield said. The woman allegedly had a BAC of .18 percent, more than twice the legal limit of .08 percent

The woman was charged on the suspicion of operating while intoxicated and indecent exposure, Fifield said.
