MCCORDSVILLE — Detectives are investigating after a mushroom hunter found human remains Saturday afternoon in McCordsville.
McCordsville Police Department officers were called shortly before 12:30 p.m. to the 6500 block of West County Road 900 North after a man who was mushroom hunting found what he thought were human remains, MPD detective Aaron Watts said in a press release.
The Hancock County Coroner's Office responded to the scene and confirmed they were human skeletal remains, Watts said.
Five scientists from the University of Indianapolis responded to the scene on Sunday morning to work with authorities to help determine the identity of the remains, which could take months, Watts said.
