Shooting on Indianapolis' northeast side leaves person in critical condition, police say

INDIANAPOLIS — Detectives in Indianapolis are investigating a shooting Wednesday evening on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

The victim showed up to IU Health Methodist Hospital suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Michael Hewitt said in an email. They are in critical condition.

A crime scene was later located in the 5300 block of Massachusetts Avenue, near North Ritter Avenue, Hewitt said.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
