Man wanted in connection with fatal shooting of 8-year-old Indianapolis girl

INDIANAPOLIS — Police are searching for a man Sunday night after an 8-year-old girl was shot and killed in Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called around 5:30 p.m. to the Indianapolis Fire Department station near East 38th Street and North Layman Avenue on the report of a person who was shot and arrived there, IMPD Sgt. Jim Gillespie said in an email. The girl later died.

Police at the scene tell RTV6 the girl was taken to the fire station by a guardian.
