INDIANAPOLIS — Two people were killed and a third was injured in two separate shootings in Indianapolis early Monday morning.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the first shooting around 12:30 a.m. at a skating rink in the 3900 block of Glen Arm Road. Responding officers found a man lying in the parking lot of Skateland Roller Skating who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified by the Marion County Coroner as Justin Anderson, 32.
Detectives say they believe a group of men inside Skateland Roller Skating got into a verbal argument which spilled outside. Anderson was shot during that altercation.
Less than 30 minutes later, IMPD officers were called to the scene of a second shooting at the 4500 block of N. Elizabeth Street. Responding officers found a man lying on the ground at that location who had been shot at least one time. That man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Marion County Coroner identified the victim as Roger Smith, 39.
At the time, police took a possible suspect into custody. They later arrested Adrian Parson, 31, for his involvement in the crime on N. Elizabeth Street. Parson is being held on suspicion of murder and aggravated battery.
While homicide detectives were working both scenes, a woman showed up at Community North Hospital just after 2:30 a.m. saying she had also been shot in the 3900 block of Glen Arm Road. During an investigation police found that the female had misled detectives of where she had been shot. She had been involved in a shooting in the 4400 block of North Elizabeth Street.
Police say the woman was treated for a gunshot wound to the arm and is expected to survive.
On February 5, officers arrested Damon Lewis Jr., 19, for his involvement in the shooting at Skateland Roller Skating. He's preliminarily charged with murder.
Both homicides remain under investigation by IMPD.
