TIPPECANOE COUNTY — Two people were killed after a shooting in the early morning hours of St. Patrick's Day near Lafayette.

Tippecanoe County Sheriff's deputies and emergency personnel were called around midnight to the area of Mill Drive on the report of two people who had been shot, Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office Lt. Brian Lowe said in a press release. When they arrived, they located two people who had died due to their injuries.

At this time, detectives believe the shooting was the result of a domestic situation and say there is no danger to the public, Lowe said.

Detectives say they are still investigating.
