INDIANAPOLIS -- A 17-year-old was shot late Sunday evening on Indianapolis' west side. 

The shooting happened just after 10 p.m. in a parking lot near the intersection of 10th Street and High School Road. 

More than a dozen shell casings were found at the scene, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. The teen was hospitalized in critical condition.

Police say they talked to witnesses who heard gunshots but claim they didn't see anything. Other witnesses ran when officers arrived and aren't cooperating. The victim also isn't cooperating with the investigation.

Police hope the parents of the teenagers involved will come forward with information.
