INDIANAPOLIS -- An arrest has been made in connection with the strangulation death of a woman Friday morning on Indianapolis' northwest side.

34-year-old Tasha Allen was found at her house in the 1100 block of W. 35th St. around 12:30 a.m.

A spokesperson with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said Allen was the victim of hands-to-throat choking. She died at the hospital.

42-year-old Tarik Fields has been arrested and preliminarily charged with murder.

Fields was also arrested for domestic battery in April 2004 and January 2006 but the charges were dismissed in both cases.

In 2012, he was convicted of criminal confinement, battery and strangulation and was sentenced to 736 days in prison.
