CUMBERLAND, Ind. -- More than 95 people donated money to help save a historic church in Cumberland, Indiana.
The Town of Cumberland and Indiana Landmarks announced Wednesday they raised $75,640, meeting their goal to save the German Church at the corner of German Church Road and Washington Street.
The St. John United Church of Christ owns the building. The congregation asked for $75,000 to keep the church from being demolished.
TWG Development LLC has agreed to buy the building to build senior apartments, contingent on tax credits. The tax credits have been delayed.
