Death investigation underway after body found on Indianapolis' northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS — A death investigation is underway after a woman's body was found Friday afternoon in a retention pond on the northwest side of Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called around 4:15 p.m. to an address on Kimmeridge Lane, near West 56th Street and Georgetown Road, on the report of a body in a retention pond IMPD Officer Aaron Hamer said.

At this time, detectives are treating the case as a death investigation, Hamer said. At this time, foul play is not suspected.

The woman's identity has not been released.

No additional details have been released at this time.
