MUNCIE — A 62-year-old Muncie man is dead after a house fire early Tuesday morning.
Muncie Fire Department investigator Rob Mead said firefighters were called to the house fire in the 1700 block of South Burlington Drive around 3 a.m.
At this time, Mead said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, however, it is believed to have started due to improperly discarded smoking materials.
Delaware County Coroner Rick Howell said the cause of death of Phillip Beaty is still under investigation.
