MUNCIE — Police in Muncie are investigating after a woman was shot Saturday morning.
Muncie Police Department officers and emergency responders were called around 8 a.m to the 1600 block of West 16th Street on the report of a person shot.
When they arrived, they found a woman who was suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Muncie Police Chief Joe WInkle said the woman shot is believed to be pregnant.
The victim was taken to the hospital and does not have life-threatening injuries, Winkle said.
At this time, Winkle it’s early in the investigation and detectives are working to find out what led up to the shooting.
