MUNCIE, Ind. – A 16-year-old Muncie boy likely won't face charges after fatally stabbing a man who was abusing his mother.
Muncie police said the incident happened Wednesday in the 700 block of S. Brotherton Street around 8:40 p.m.
Investigators said a 16-year-old stabbed his mother’s boyfriend with a pair of scissors. They believe the woman was being abused and her son came to her aid.
The boy and his mother told police that the man packed his bags and left out the back door but police later found him dead in a back yard.
Police believe the man died from the stab wounds and are calling it a case of self-defense.
The Delaware County Coroner’s Office is working to identify the man, as they believe he may have been using a false name.
