HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. – A woman was found dead and her husband in critical condition with two gunshot wounds at their Hendricks County home Saturday – but the circumstances surrounding the situation remain unclear.

Deputies were called to the home in the 102000 block of Homestead near Brownsburg just after noon when a concerned family member called police after they were unable to contact the man and woman and found both vehicles at the home.

When deputies arrived they were able to get into the home through an unlocked window. Once inside they found 52-year-old Laura Edwards dead. Her husband, 62-year-old Brian Edwards, was found in critical condition with two gunshot wounds.

An autopsy found no signs of trauma to Laura Edwards' body. A ruling on cause and manner of death was pending toxicology results.

As of Monday afternoon, Brian Edwards remained in critical condition at Eskenazi Hospital.

According to a spokesperson for Hendricks County, they are not looking for any suspects in the case.

In an earlier press release, Hendricks County officials said the woman had been found dead from an apparent gunshot wound. In a follow up release, they stated after investigating further they determined she had not been shot.
