INDIANAPOLIS -- Cancer is the leading cause of firefighter line-of-duty deaths in the U.S.

In Marion Co., 160 firefighters are currently battling cancer.

That's why Indianapolis Fire Department is hosting training by the Firefighter Cancer Support Network.

IFD instructors and other Indiana fire instructors are going through five days of cancer prevention training.

In addition to training, the Firefighter Cancer Support Network provides assistance and one-on-one mentoring to thousands of cancer- stricken firefighters and their families.
