INDIANAPOLIS -- Passengers aboard an Indianapolis-bound flight from Las Vegas were in a scary situation late Monday night.
Southwest Airlines Flight 717 didn't arrive until after midnight, more than an hour after the expected arrival.
The plane had to return to the gate after a man on board was acting suspiciously.
Southwest Airlines says other passengers alerted staff of the man's strange behavior, and when they tried talking to him, he refused to follow crew member's instructions.
The next step was to have air marshals come aboard the aircraft after the decision was made to remove the man from the plane but he was not arrested.
"Everyone was happy," Vanessa Marshall, who was seated next to the passenger, said, "We had a lot of kids on the flight. It was best they took him off because there was clearly something wrong. It was a 3-hour flight. There' no telling what would've happened."
A spokesperson for the Las Vegas airport says airport police checked to see if the man was drunk and removed him from airport property.
