NORTH VERNON, Ind. -- A former North Vernon police officer is accused of stealing evidence from the locker in the police department.
Brandy Blevins, 43, was arrested Monday on preliminary charges of official misconduct, forgery and theft.
The investigation, conducted by the Indiana State Police, began in February when the North Vernon Police Department noticed some discrepancies during a routine audit of the evidence room.
ISP detectives say Blevins stole items from the evidence room and altered medical records from Schneck Medical Center, then submitted the records to the police department.
Blevins resigned from the police department in February.
