CARMEL, Ind. -- Four children and their two parents made it to safety after their Carmel house caught fire early Wednesday morning.
They approached fire crews outside to let them know everybody was out of the house safely. The fire was marked under control by 5 a.m.
Firefighters say the house suffered substantial damage.
As the weather changes, the firefighters are trying to remind people to have working smoke detectors and have a plan to get out, especially if there are children in the house.
There were working smoke detectors in the house.
