LAWRENCE, Ind. -- Officials have reopened an area in Lawrence, Indiana after a gas main was ruptured Tuesday.
The incident happened in the 8300 block of E. 46th Street around 9:30 a.m.
The area is residential where construction crews are doing work. Police say one of the crews hit a gas line where a former Lawrence Township high school used to be.
Several blocks were been evacuated as a security measure, but were released to the public at 10:45.
The following areas were affected:
- 46th and Van Cleaver streets
- 47th and Mehaffey streets
- Pendleton Pike and Mowery Street
- McCoy Street between 45th and 46th streets
