Gas prices up across central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS -- If you've driven around central Indiana Tuesday, you may have noticed an increase in gas prices.

According to GasBuddy.com, Indianapolis prices were at $2.183 per gallon. Tuesday, the average price for a gallon of gas is $2.288 per gallon.

The jump was enough to push Indianapolis over the average price for the United States, which stands at $2.222 per gallon.

According to GasBuddy.com's Patrick DeHaan, the changes are part of routine price cycling.

But if you're planning a trip for Labor Day Weekend, you may want to get your gas sooner than later. On the bright side, gas for the weekend will be the lowest Labor Day prices in years.

DeHaan said prices will continue a slow rise until after the weekend, when the country will get a break in mid-September, before a drop around Halloween.
