Gas station clerk holds shoplifter at gunpoint, taken into custody

FISHERS, Ind. -- A gas station clerk was taken into custody Tuesday morning after he held a shoplifter at gunpoint, according to Fishers police.

The incident happened at a BP gas station near the intersection of 131st Street and State Road 37 around 10:30 a.m.

Fishers Police Public Information Officer Shawn Wynn said the suspect, 23-year-old Steven Robinson, allegedly stole a cigar from the gas station. Ahmad Al-Rafie, the gas station clerk, then followed Robinson to his vehicle and reportedly pointed a gun at him.

Officers said Robinson drove away from the scene and no shots were fired.

Robinson faces preliminary charges of theft and driving while suspended. Al-Rafie faces preliminary charges of intimidation with a firearm and pointing a firearm at another person.
