GREENFIELD, Ind. -- Three Greenfield mothers are rallying support for a proposal to add metal detectors to Hancock County schools.

More than 1,000 people have signed their petition.

They hope those supporters show up to a school board meeting on Monday at Greenfield Central Junior High School, where the issue will be discussed.

The women said they felt like they had to act after last month's shooting at Noblesville West Middle School.

Lauren Andrews said she wishes she had started the push for metal detectors sooner. Andrews has two kids in Hancock County schools.

"However, I feel like when it was so close to home, I just had enough and we always think it won't happen where we live and that morning it really hit home for me and I was emotional and I have friends that have kids that go to that school and I had just had enough," she said.

The women will give a presentation that will include the cost of metal detectors, and how many would be needed across the district.
