KOKOMO, Ind. -- Animal control in Kokomo said two dogs that appeared to be neglected now seem to be doing well.
Neighbors in Kokomo said they called animal control several times in early October.
Kasmira Thompson is one of those neighbors. She said she contacted animal control several times, but nothing was done.
“All matted up, no water, no shelter, even in the rain ... no food,” said Thompson.
She said the dogs were tied up in the front yard of a house in Kokomo.

But nearly two weeks later, Humane Society Director Karen Wolfe said the dogs are in good health. There were no sores or hot spots on the dogs' bodies and they are happy -- other than a delayed grooming.
"We handled this situation and helped this woman and her dogs in the best way possible, with compassion," Wolfe said. "If the dogs had been at risk we would not have let them remain in that situation."
