KOKOMO, Ind. — KOKOMO — Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle involved in crash early Sunday morning in Kokomo that left six people injured.
Kokomo Police Department officers and emergency responders were called around 1:15 a.m. to the area of West Elm and North Webster streets on the report of an accident with people entrapped in a vehicle.
Police said in a press release a driver and a passenger of one of the vehicles involved, a 2005 silver Saab, fled the scene before police arrived.
Witnesses described the two people who ran from the scene as two black males, average height and build, and in their late teens to early 20s. One of the two people was seen by witnesses wearing a gray hoodie and jeans, police said in a press release.
Three females, 16, 18, 20, from Kokomo, were transported to local hospitals and were released Sunday morning.
An 18-year-old man from Kokomo was driving a 2003 Saturn Vue and was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition, police said in a press release.
Three other people, two 18-year-old men and a 17-year-old boy, were in the Vue at the time of the crash. Two of them were transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis in serious condition, police said in a press release.
At this time, investigators said in a press release they believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
