INDIANAPOLIS — An Illinois man was killed after striking a guardrail and being ejected from his truck Saturday evening on Interstate-65 in Indianapolis.

Indiana State Police troopers and emergency personnel were called around 7:30 p.m. to I-65 southbound near the I-70 interchange on the report of a serious crash, according to a press release from ISP.

David Lopez, 44, of Oswego, Illinois, was killed in the crash, according to ISP.

Investigators believe Lopez's truck ran off the roadway, struck a guardrail and went airborne before he was ejected, according to ISP. A nurse who was nearby when the crash occurred stopped to call 911 and begin CPR before emergency personnel could arrive.

It is believed alcohol is a factor in the crash as other motorists told investigators they saw his vehicle weaving on the roadway, according to ISP. Lopez was not wearing a seatbelt, which investigators also believe to be a factor in the deadly injuries.
