INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Breann Leath was escorted to Crown Hill Cemetery Friday after she was shot and killed in the line of duty.
Leath was shot and killed during a domestic disturbance call Thursday afternoon the east side of Indianapolis.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be difficult for Leath's friends, family, IMPD, and the community to come together to remember her for funeral services.
During a press conference Thursday, IMPD, city and Fraternal Order of Police leaders urged people to continue supporting her family and the department during the pandemic.
A fund was established for those who would like to donate to help Leath's family and son.
Leath, 24, was a mother and a veteran. People say she was a giving and caring person who wanted to help make Indianapolis a better place.
A police officer has been with Leath since the incident and will be with her until she is laid to rest, Indianapolis FOP President Rick Snyder said.
