INDIANAPOLIS -- An officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was hospitalized Monday morning after a head-on crash on Indianapolis' north side.
The crash happened around 2 a.m. near the intersection of 73rd Street and Hoover Road.
The officer was traveling west on 73rd Street headed to a run with his lights off, when a small pickup truck crossed the yellow line and hit his car.
The officer was taken to Methodist Hospital in stable condition with leg pain. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Eskenazi Health in serious condition.
An IMPD spokesperson on the scene said the driver of the pickup is suspected of being impaired.
