INDIANAPOLIS -- All it took was one phone call to help get a shooting suspect off the streets of Indianapolis.
Now, police are thanking the community members who made the call.
Just after 8 a.m., a 22-year-old man was found shot multiple times in the 8200 block of Harcourt Road.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were able to get suspect information and a vehicle description from witnesses at the scene.
Before leaving the area, police asked the witnesses to call if they saw anything suspicious.
About two hours later, they saw the suspect in the area of the crime scene. Acting on the "See something, say something" mantra, they called IMPD.
Larry Carroll, 23, was arrested and preliminarily charged with aggravated battery.
In a statement, the police department said:
This is a testament to what a city can do, what a strong Police-Community partnership can do when everyone works together. The IMPD would like to thank the community for their continued commitment in helping make Indianapolis a safer place to work and live.
