INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Women’s Prison renamed its nursery after IMPD Officer Breann Leath Thursday, in recognition of everything she did and the sacrifices she made.
Leath was a former correctional officer at the Indiana Women’s Prison.
“We thought it would be highly appropriate for us to rename this nursery after Officer Leath,” Indiana Department of Correction Commissioner Robert E. Carter Jr. said. “And hope these babies that are born will use her memory as an inspiration.”
Also showing footage from a documentary filmed at a women’s prison. In the footage, Leath checks on a woman with her baby.
“She is so beautiful,” Leath says to the new mother in the video. “She’s so cute. I hope my baby’s cute.”
