INDIANAPOLIS -- A 4-year-old Chihuahua was credited with saving her human from a house fire Thursday morning.
The fire started at about midnight, at a house on Indy's south side, near the intersection of Meridian and Elbert streets.
After the fire broke out inside the house, Rosie the Chihuahua started barking. The barking woke up the house's 25-year-old occupant, Tori Brandenburg, who was house sitting for her mother.
Brandenburg went outside and called 911. The damage has been estimated at $180,000.
None of the working smoke alarms went off before she left the house.
