INDIANAPOLIS — Firefighters in Indianapolis were battling a 2-alarm fire at a church on the northside Saturday evening.
Emergency responders were called to the New Bethel Baptist Missionary Church, around 5:20 p.m. on the report of a structure fire.
Indianapolis Fire Department said 20 people, including a Boy Scouts troop holding a meeting, were evacuated after the fire was discovered in the kitchen. No injuries were reported.
At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown.
IFD said the church was built in 1895 and has 75 families.
