INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Public Schools is moving ahead with its plan to ask Indy homeowners to agree to a tax hike to support city schools, but exactly how much of a hike it would be is still unknown.
IPS had asked for between $700 million and $1 billion, but that plan was scrapped. The new plan has not been announced, but it will include a plan to raise $52 million for school safety projects.
IPS will host a meeting Wednesday to discuss the options for the referendum.
The Indy Chamber is helping the district come up with an affordable plan.
