INDIANAPOLIS – Almost 30 animal shelters and rescues from Indiana are at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Saturday and Sunday with more than 1,000 cats and dogs available for adoption.
Those interested in adopting a new pet can visit the shelters and the recuses at the fairgrounds until 6 p.m. Saturday and from 12-6 p.m. on Sunday.
This is the 10th mega-adoption event and organizers estimate about 7,000 animals have been adopted at the events.

"The Indy Mega-Adoption event marks two significant milestones for animal health and well-being,” event organizer Megan Bennett said in a press release. “At the same time, we are seeing a record number of shelters from Indiana coming to Indianapolis as part of this collective effort to find loving homes for animals while cutting down on needless euthanasia."
All animals have an adoption fee of $30 and are already fixed, vaccinated and micro-chipped.
The event is free to attend and parking is $5.
